One more week
Like Ambimb I too have just about given up on focusing on anything but politics over the next week. Besides the presidential election we have the 1st and 2nd District congressional races here in Nebraska. Both of those races are polling within the MOE.
Then there are the other races that are keeping my attention. How about Sen. Jim Bunning (KY-R) going publicly crazy and allowing Dr. Dan to make that race close? Tom Delay actually having to campaign in his district for the first time in ten years? It's true thanks in no small part to his ethics violations and looming subpoena combined with major contributions flowing into Richard Morrison's campaign from all over the country.
Then there's the laundry list of voter intimidation/fraud in swing states.
Thankfully, unlike A. Rickey I went ahead and picked up Rome: Total War. I have been exercising extreme moderation in my playing, but it's a hell of way to avoid political news and blogging when I'm not studying.

i've had this letter to the editor in my head, but i'm tochickensh*t to write it. anyway, i keep getting the full-color fortenberry ads every week in the mail. anyway, i just think they're kind of wasteful. i've got at least 9 pieces of mail with fortenberry's mug on it. i haven't received any mass-malings from connealy. anyway, i was just thinking if they spend that much on full-color glossy ads, ...well you get the pic.

Heh, be careful. Sarah and I have each gotten at least three pieces of anti-Fort mail in the past week. I'm talking big, colorful multi-fold pieces. They're from the DCCC and the NEA I think.

and one of the ones i got had a FOOTBALL on it????!?!?!?!?!!?!?? a HUGE FOOTBALL!!!??!?

Well, we just got one piece of mail from Connealy. We also got two pieces of mail from Fortenberry. I don't think we should be on either list. But what are we doing on Fortenberry's list, twice. Not very good targetting going on there, very wasteful.

Odd that I haven't gotten any Fortmail. This neighborhood is the south border of the Democratic triangle. I know I get Connealy mail because I donated and Sarah probably gets it because she's a teacher.
Oh, and according to the Connealy camp, they're killing in Lincoln but not doing so well in the country. Undecideds still sit at over 16% though, and they've been breaking our way 2-1 so far.

Make sure you volunteer for GOTV. Focusing on the election is more fun when phoning leaners and persuading them to vote for Connealy or knocking on some doors.

I'm suffering from full blown pre-election anxiety disorder. Can't sleep. Obsessively watching Chris Matthews. Talking about it all the time. I've already started planning Tuesday (what time I'll vote, whether to eat first, what to wear) and the next day celebration or crying and applying for Canadian citizenship. I just want it to be over.

just got another one, and i checked back on all of them, and most of them are from the GOP. why? my mom used to clean houses for a semi big whig i the 60s. she collects nixon buttons.
i'm with rufus here. starting friday, thru late late tuesday, i will have no cable tv, and very little internet access in a swing state. actually, i'm quite looking forward to it.
