Go Cold Front!

I bitch about the weather a lot, especially during the summer. I don't mind snow and ice and temperatures in the single digits. I do hate the heat, though, and this year has been exceptional. We've set record highs the last three days. It's been 92° or above since Sunday and an even cooler (warmer) record for highest low was set last night.

I vowed not to turn the AC back on and last night I suffered. I slept fitfully when I did sleep. It's freakin' October already. Enough. None of the leaves on the evil maples in the front yard have even a hint of non-green.

This afternoon after I class I checked the state weather. It was 92° in Lincoln. A few hours to the northwest in Valentine, NE, it was 42°. That front bringing the cool temperatures has now slowed down to a crawl. It's still 81°, better than last night, but I don't see myself going to sleep until that front rolls in and the temperature drops by 25° in an hour or so.

Wow, somebody else who doesn't mind snow, ice, and cold weather. There aren't many of us. Do you love driving on ice, too? It's one of my favorite winter activities.

I hope you got to sleep eventually. I hate trying to sleep while I'm hot. If I had my druthers, my bedroom would be kept at 50 degrees overnight, warming instantly to 70 degrees mere moments before I woke up. I don't think The Missus would go for that, though.

I'll second that Steve likes to bitch about the weather a lot.

Did you get some snow after this post? My folks live just west of you in Montana and they got dumped on this week...

Nope. No snow. We're a little too south to get snow this early and it's been so dry that we barely got any rain. It still got down to 30° on Friday morning, though.

I forgot to mention the last time it was this hot in October we got 2 feet of snow three weeks later that shut down the city for a week. I'm looking forward to that.
