Teevee is good
It's been a long time since there's been so many quality TV shows, especially comedies, on the networks and I'm watching as much of it as I can although I had to draw the line at the trio of alien invasion stories.
The Office started out fairly slowly last year but has been brilliantly hilarious so far this season. The writers are getting away from trying to mirror the BBC version and the characters and storylines are taking on their own identities.
My Name is Earl was funny from the beginning but has gotten ROFLMAO funny over the last two episodes. Plus, it's nice to see Jaime Pressly getting steady work.
Arrested Development is so full of jokes it's hard to keep up sometimes. Fox has resisted cancelling it for the last two year and it would be nice to see it finally break out.
Lost is the best show on network television. Some people get frustrated by the constant raising of new mysteries without answering all the questions but that's what I like about the show. I prefer my dramas to be continuing stories without the neat wrap-up at the end of each episode. That's why I don't really care for any of the cop/lawyer/doctor shows.
Desperate Housewives is still good although I'm really starting to hate Teri Hatcher. She's like Ross on Friends to me.
Gilmore Girls started out really slowly and badly this season and I was about ready to quit watching when it kind of picked up steam this week. It's still going to be the first show to get the hook if I have to make some hard choices.
HBO has been awesome. Rome is truly epic, very historically accurate and full of brilliant British actors doing what they do best. Curb Your Enthusiasm is back for another run and no matter how much Larry David makes me squirm, it's always worth it. Extras, the new show from Ricky Gervais, creator of the original Office has been hit and miss but it's growing on me. The first episode with Kate Winslet was hysterical and that set a high bar the show hasn't been able to attain again.

extras: the kate winslett one and the samuel l. jackson ones are the best. have they played that one yet? they eat on busses, and there's a bus for actors, and one for extras. the extras are white, and not allowed on the actors' bus. when a black actor (not jackson) wants to eat on the extras' bus...hillarity ensues!

Yeah, the Sam Jackson one was the last one aired. It was better than the last couple but not as funny as Kate Winslet.

The episode with Ben Stiller just made me cringe, but I loved the one with Kate W. I guess I'll have to give it another shot & see if Sam Jackson can tip the scales.

Jeanne, I see you're a Gilmore Girls watcher. What's your impression of this season? As you can tell I've been frustrated with it so far. Are they going to drag the Rory/Lorelai reconciliation out until the season finale? The previews look good though with Jess showing up and all.
