The new litmus test
The more I think about it and the more I read, the more I think the Miers nomination was carefully calculated to adhere to the Bush Administration litmus test. It has nothing to do with social conservatism - Roe, Lawrence, Griswold, etc. Those people should have figured out by now they've been used for their money and votes.
No, the new Bush litmus test is Rasul, Hamdi, Padilla and Eisentrager. Miers was a White House insider when the whole Gitmo/enemy combatant strategy was being concocted. She's been White House counsel since Gonzalez went to the DOJ. Who better to have on the high court to reflect your views in the War on Terra?
The love of corporate cronyism and Enron-style fraud is just a bonus.
