The Half-Way Point
I'm getting ready to head off to the oncologist's office for my last AC treatment today. After it's done, I'll be half-way through chemo. I know that all sounds really great, but I am finding no joy in those thoughts today because I am dreading the next week or so. I don't want to do this again.
Over on the right hand side of the screen you'll see a new image of a pink ribbon accompanied by the words "Click Every Day." Before you leave my blog today (and every day!), please consider clicking on the image. The link will take you to TheBreastCancerSite.org and when you get there you will see a pink button at the top of the screen that says "Click Here." Clicking on that will take you to a page with a list of site sponsors. Just by clicking on the link and looking at their ads on the screen, some of the funding generated by those ads is donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The NBCF uses the funds to provide free mammograms to low-income, homeless, and inner-city women who otherwise might not have access to them. Once you get to that page, you can even sign up for daily e-mail reminders to click on the link.
And while we're on the subject, when was your last mammogram? How about your last breast self-exam?

I wouldn't call this the halfway point. You are actually finished with the worst part of chemo. You may not feel like it but this is a time to celebrate a small victory on the road to recovery. You'll find that Taxol is much easier to handle. Your hair may even start growing again in a few weeks. You've reached a plateau. Enjoy the view before continuing on your journey.

I'll be clicking. And donating. And praying. And doing everything I can to help find a cure. :( Hope the second half isn't as torturous!

I agree with Joel -- the AC is the worst. Taxol is awesome compared to AC. No more puking/nausea, just some bone pain. At least that's what I experienced. Except my hair didn't start growing back with Taxol -- I think I lost even more (my eyebrows, which were wispy with AC, became non-existent with Taxol). You're doing great! Hant on!!!

I agree with Joel and Deb. Not as bad as A/C by a long shot. Like Deb said, some bone pain and it is different for everyone. But I didn't have such a problem. More stiffness in the morning that eased considerably after a hot shower.
My hair started coming back before I finished, then thinned out a tad again, but started growing back immediately.
I also lost my lashes and eyebrows (warning - that was much more difficult than losing my hair) but they grew back quickly.
So yeah! You're over the worst of it!! Woohoo!!!
No mammograms for me since I no longer have any actualy breast tissue. I guess that's a silver lining, eh??
